I've always like the Peruvian rhodochrosite from the Uchucchacua Mine with the contrast of the red crystals on either the black or white matrix. I have about 60 of these pieces, mostly miniatures to small cabinet sized.
Page 13, Rhodochrosite
CR1288: Rhodochrosite, Uchucchacua Mine, Peru. 2.9 cm x 2.9 cm x 2.9 cm, 27.5 grams, $45. Nice sharp crystals with just enough space between them so that the wad provides a nice contrast. Rhodo crystals up to approximately 6 mm
CRxxxx: Rhodochrosite, Uchucchacua Mine, Peru. 3.3 cm x 2.4 cm x 1.1 cm, 8.6 grams, $15. A nice sharp thumbnail.
CR1291: Rhodochrosite, Uchucchacua Mine, Peru. 4.0 cm x 3.8 cm x 2.0 cm, 32.6 grams, $30. Nice sharp rhodo crystals contrast nicely. Displays well.
CR1290: Rhodochrosite, Uchucchacua Mine, Peru. 4.0 cm x 2.4 cm x 2.2 cm, 47.5 grams, $20. There is damage to some of the crystals. The larger crystal, upper right, has a nice deep color and is approx 7 mm long but appears to have a cleaved surface.
CR1292: Rhodochrosite, Uchucchacua Mine, Peru. 4.4 cm x 2.0 cm x 1.8 cm, 21.5 grams, $35. Nice fairly large crystal is nearly a centimeter. Sharp crystals.
CR1293: Rhodochrosite, Uchucchacua Mine, Peru. 4.2 cm x 3.5 cm x2.8 cm, 68.8 grams, $120. Large central rhomb is 1.1 cm across, definitely one of the best pieces of the lot, a great miniature. This color is much better than in the photo.
CRxxxx: Rhodochrosite, Uchucchacua Mine, Peru. xx cm x xx cm x xx cm, xx grams, $xx.
CR1293: Closeup image of the main crystal. Note the unusual habit on the surrounding quartz.
